Abemonjyuin temple was a branch of Abe temple, founded by Abe family, one
of ancient powerful families and became independent in the Kamakura era.
Great Buddha image of Monjyu Bodhisattva made by Japanese great sculptor
"Kaikei" in the Kamakura era is very famous. I think Monjyu Boshisattva
became main image at this temple because Abe family had produced many great
Scholars, for example, Kakamaro Abe in the Nara era and Seimei Abe in the
middle of Heian Era.
"Oeshiki" on March 25 and 26 is the fair for Monjyu Bodhisattva
and the Chiebukuro is put on the head of the worshipers to give the power
like as this photo. (All photos - Oeshiki at Abemonjyuin ) |
