In Nara prefecture, there is a folk custom, so-called "Kanjo rope" hanging over a rope on the border between villages. It seemed to be popular in Kinki district in Japan, but many exist in the Nara basin. From the review of ethnology, this custom can not go back to Kamakura era. Otherwise someone say it originate from ancient time because "Kanjo rope" at Hananoiwa_shrine in Kumano was introduced in "Nihonshoki" as a funeral of God Izanagi before 1500 years. "Tunakake at Inabuchi" is very famous and heavy in Nara. This photo is by use of wide angle lens in order to emphasis the length of the rope.
