A few years ago the use of tripod is prohibited for the photographing otaimatsu, the fire ceremony of omizutori. I hear it was for safety guard for increased audiences., We have not use the long exposure technique since this ruling. But we can discover some new aspects for photographing. For example, my above photo is taken by open iris in my hand with high-sensitive film. I believe it is a good job because the sparks falling from railing is very effective on the background of pitch's dark. That time I make "Haiku"following , too.
In fact, it was composed when I heard the Buddhism chant at the Nigatsudo
hall after this fire ceremony. Maybe the fire in the darkness and the chant
make me very sentimental. -- All photos of omizutori --
