Inoko originated from an old Chinese custom of eating the rice cakes to
pray their health. It moved to the palace in Japan and have spread into
the general people as the ceremony for the spirit of the rice field. Inoko
at Takada is famous of this ceremony of "Toumoukeshi", after
two unique "breaking ceremonies", "Breaking the yagura"
and "Braking the dinner table ". In the ceremony of "Toumoukeshi"
in the darkness, the children throw the straw toward a fire on the household
altar shrine to put down and on the other hand a leader light a candle.
The battle is very unique. (All photos of Inoko at Takada)
