Hitomaro shrine held "Sumitsuke festival" is located at Joou-chou
near Yamatoyagi station of Kintetsu railway. It is around the lower course
of Asuka river and the sphere of influence by Soga family, ancient famous
politicians. Now Soga shrine at Soga-chou and Iruka shrine at Koami-chou
reemain near the Hitomaro shrine. However we know Hitomaro shrine has separated
and moved from Kakinomoto shrine at Shinjou in Katsuragi city after the
fall of Soga family.
Sumitsuke festival is a kind of Nogami festival popular in Nara prefecture
and in which the villagers offer the imitated snake of straw to the Nogami
tomb similar to the other Nogami festival. But this festival have another
ceremony, so-called "Sumitsuke", in which children in this village
draw their face and body of each other with black carbon and their skin
become pitch black as this picture you look. This festival is very famous
because of children's pretty acting and also many crowd of cameramen flock
to take a picture of "Sumitsuke". Especially it is for a beginner
by reason that they can chase the target earnestly. However I have not
joined this festival for long time in order to avoid the crowd of many
cameramen. |
