Oribe shrine is a old holy place located beside the route 369 at Hayama
in (former) Tuge villege (present: Nara city), and the back hill is covered
of big rocks, so-called "Iwakura". Ondako (name of spring festival
at Oribe shrine) is one kind of "Rice plant festival" popular
around Nara prefecture and famous of the action that a child named "Ondako"throw
"Matsunae", the imitation for seedling of rice, towards field.
Additionally this festival include other two elements, bow festival and
parade. Especially the parade is very poetic like as a picture.
The Samurai who join in this parade is only one and walk on his own foots
in no. However, I suggest many Samurai had joined in this parade and ridded
on the horse. It is the reason why any Villages around the east mountain
area in Nara prefecture had been governed by "Yamatozamurai"
till the beginning of Edo era. I guess the Samurai who wear old helmet
is a trace of the past. (All photos-Ondako at Oribe shrine )
Above is one scene of the parade and Ondako, main host of this festival selected in the children at this village, was carried by his father. |
