East mountain area in Nara is very mysterious zone. A lot of old shinto
shrines remain in the hills around Yagyu and Yamasoi, which hold unique
ceremonies in Autumn festival. This area was the manor of Kasuga shrine
in the medieval period and have a role as the labour for "Onmatsuri",
the grand festival of Kasuga shrine. Kasuga shrine had heavy effect on
those ceremonies in east mountain area .

I had persued those photo at once. I think those ceremonies have same root
beacause actions are almost similar as if only with a slight defference.
Especiary movements of Dengaku (Jinpai, Yokotobi, Sankakutobi and etc.)
are no sense for us in modern age. In Yokotobi performed at Autumn festival
of Nyu shrine, actor turn round a Binzasara or a Tuzumi or a Drun (a kind
of Japanese traditional music instrument) which are putted in the center
of the stage three times fanning them. |
