January 1, 2003 Consideration of contest
It have taken 5 months since I started this
Homepage. I think it was the term I tested
various of trials as to grow up to be passably.
Because I have a purpose that I will make
the photo libraries of festivals & landscapes
at Nara, I have to add photos of popular
place and festivals which were not pressed
on this homepage. At last, I have been almost
out on holidays for this half year.
Taking photos on ordinary days is forbidden
because of engaging in my works. So it have
been busy and tough for me. Specially there
were no days that I have been in my house
on September and October. Sometimes it occurred
that I visited several place in a day for
taking photos. I was afraid someone said
it was very pour at the beginning. But he
figure of photos seem to be two times as
many as at that time.
I could know some persons at the fields who
taught me the idea. Most of them had long
experience, approximately for 10 years. As
compared with them, I seem to be chicken
boy. But I think the photos have the trends
that new one is more popular than old one
in general and can make heavy impacts. I
consider that I must have policy in order
to keep homepage because homepage was explained
as mass of photos and have new capability.
By the way, I will change the theme newly.
I had applied some photo contests in the
first time. Someone were assessed as bad,
and someone as good. But I stopped to do
that recently. Because I noticed to be unable
to get the awards if I can not take photos
by the suitable techniques for contest. Specially
according to photos in the field of festival,
Snaps shot and photos which are rich in opportunity
are profitable for contest, but realistic
and statistic photos like as mine are not.
I try to explain details as following.

This photo was taken by all manual setting.
At that ages, I had make trial and error
to take photos of fire or lantern in the
darkness. Specially it was difficult to insert
a person in front of the fire. I remember
that I sat the camera on one_legged tripod
and put up at the height of 3 meters by remote
control because of the crowd. Sometime this
technique is very useful. As for this photo,
I think it is good. Slow shutter made photo
obscure in line, but red in color tone and
clear around the background.
I suggest that this photo had no awards by
the reason that the line was obscure. In
addition, I am afraid that statistic image
had effect on the result.
But the fire of this photo is very beautiful
and difficult to be taken like as this. Maybe
I am sure most peoples who have experience
to practice at this point will agree with
my opinions. For that scene, I used 3-4 pieces
of films, but there is nothing except this
one which colored red and made horse appear
clearly in the fire. Then I insist that the
obscure image by slow shutter was within
my thinking.
At last, it seem that the quantity of intend
and trial by oneself is not in correspond
to the result whether we will get award or
not. Honestly I was unpleasant that my photo
was treated as well as some other photos
without trial and by automatic setting.
One said the photos of festivals were within
the fields of data photos and not available
for contest. It is sure that climax scenes
are limited and the festival photos which
have to be take of that scene is apt to be
stereotyped. Someone may assess my photo
as one kinds of stereotype by this reason.
According to photo contest, Snap shot or
dynamic photo is suitable, but statistic
one is not. It is my reason that I stopped
applying the contest. I have purpose to make
photo library of Nora's festivals and landscapes
as to continue to catch the climax of them
even if I will be stabbed in the back as
data matters. I will postpone to apply the
contest for a while. Newly I consider the
theme to make photo library is important
for me, and it will take 2-3 years to accomplish.
Otherwise the revel of my photo went down
because I was busy in taking many photos
for this half year. At the beginning of the
new year I declare that I will make an effort
to catch fantastic photo as all know. |
