Monkey festival was performed by villagers on second monkey day in December, by the rule of Japanese old calendar. Today's program started from Onina dance, followed to Shimai and ended on Nougaku, which was "Kokaji" as you can see on this photo. An actor with a spiritual mask ran about on the stage against the trees with thick foliage. Old time "Nogaku" was performed in the open air like this festival. I think it is very fantastic to see the dance much same as 600 years ago fortunately. (Manual focus, Iris f5.6, Auto exposure, Lens28-70mm, Film ISO100)
