The Japanese custom of eating pumpkin (Japanese say "Kabochafuuji")
at the winter solstice is very old. Generally say it is very healthy and
effective to palsy in particular by reason of rich in carotene and bitamin.
At Shoutoku temple, the priest pray healthy life for the worshipers this
day (December 22 in every year) and treat them to the lunch of pumpkin
(charged fee). Just this time, the tree of nandin bear heavy red crops and very beatiful. (All photo-Kabochafuuji)
Shoureki temple is famous of autumn leaves in Nara, but I often visit this
place in other seasons to enjoy sound of cicada, clear stream and fresh
air. (HP-Soureki temple) |
